Religion vs. Science, No Says This Group

“The mere existence of the Clergy Letter Project, an international organization I founded that is comprised of thousands of clergy members and scientists, demonstrates that religious leaders and scientists are not inherently at odds. After all, more than 12,400 Christian clergy members from all across the United States have signed the Christian Clergy Letter, a powerful, two-paragraph statement promoting a shared understanding and acceptance of evolution and Christianity.
What could be clearer than these sentences from that Letter? "Religious truth is of a different order from scientific truth. Its purpose is not to convey scientific information but to transform hearts[...]. We urge school board members to preserve the integrity of the science curriculum by affirming the teaching of the theory of evolution as a core component of human knowledge. We ask that science remain science and that religion remain religion, two very different, but complementary, forms of truth." (Emphasis added)

There is no better way to describe this issue than to make it clear that science and religion should remain separate. Remember, this is coming from a group of Christian clergy who clearly see that there is no controversy in the science. The role of the study of evolution is not to eliminate God. Evolution can’t explain our origins though I hasten to add that there are theories on how we came to be. It does explain how we came to this state after life began. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if opponents of evolution could realize this fact?
